Peptides For Skin

peptides-for-skinQ: What are peptides for skin?

A: We’ve heard about these extensively the past ten or so years, but what are they exactly? Well, skin peptides are said to help promote collagen formation in your skin. Because collagen is a key building block of our skin and we make less and less of it as we age, this is probably a good idea!

There are many products today either use peptides as a main ingredient or in combination with other ingredients, too. The most famous of these is copper peptides (hence the name of my blog) and it is used in a wide array of creams and serums nowadays. There are many relatively inexpensive drugstore products which use it, but I prefer to go with the “good stuff” and get the higher strength products made by specialty skin care companies.

The other benefits of some peptides is they have antioxidant properties. That helps prevent damage on the cellular level from harmful free radicals (another buzz word we’ve heard a lot about lately).

However it’s important to point out the other side of the argument. There are some who say peptides may not be as beneficial as we think because they break down in the wrinkle creams we buy and hence become useless by the time we put them on our face. Is this true or not? I don’t know. But I think that with such overwhelming evidence out there to how this benefits our skin, I think it’s too important of a discovery to pass up. Sure there should will need to be further research (like the case is for everything) but can your skin really afford to wait for that, which may be decades or more away?

I will continue using my peptides for skin and I’m glad the last few years the prices of them have came down in price. I think that as time goes on they will only become more and more popular.
